Love Fioyo Community: Time Management tips

Running a household? Running a business?
Building an empire? Here is how you do it all!

Have our lives gotten busier or does it just overwhelmingly feel that way? Time management is synonymous with self-management; the power lies in you. Every woman plays multiple roles in her life – from being a daughter, sister, mother, entrepreneur, leader, team player and the list just goes on. It is going to be next to impossible to build your dream life if you feel like there is not enough time in the day. This is where good time management habits come in handy. In Love Fioyo community, we are here to help and support each other. Today, we have some useful tips to share with you. Let’s take a look at a few.

1. Live in the present but plan for the future

We always hear everyone telling us to live in the present and while that is great advice, we should also not neglect planning for the future. One of the biggest time management mistakes is simply doing whatever comes your way instead of having a concrete plan set up. One great way to keep yourself on track is to do a weekly review of your to-dos.

2. Create a plan and stick to it

Now that we know that planning is essential, next order of business is to ensure you stick to it! Mark the days and time on your calendar, set multiple reminders and conduct your weekly reviews to ensure that you are sticking to your planned schedule. Time management is daunting, but you can do simple tasks to ensure you’re on track.

3. Prioritise, prioritise and prioritise

Categorise your list of to-dos and responsibilities. Know what is of great importance to you. Set a balanced distribution of your time to all your tasks and make sure that your goals are plausible. If you set unrealistic goals and a super tight schedule, you’re setting yourself up for failure. So, prioritise and be smart about it.

4. Keep distractions at bay and focus

Social media, mobile games can be great distractions. If you have set a particular time to complete a task, make a conscious effort to keep these distractions away from you. Set boundaries for social media and you’ll be able to manage your time much better.

5. Time is precious – do not waste it

Think: multi-tasking. If you find yourself having idle time, make use of it to complete some of your easier tasks. For example, if you’re waiting in line or waiting for your next appointment, take the time to send some emails, plan for the next few days or make some overdue calls. Earlier, we mentioned about making a list and prioritising while that is important, another key conscious effort that you’ll have to take is: avoid procrastinating. We all succumb to procrastination, but it is up to us to evaluate the importance of the tasks ahead of us and to push through.

6. Don’t sweat the small things

Always have the bigger picture in mind; keep reminding yourself of your responsibilities and your goals in life. If you happen to face a setback, learn from it and move forward in your next steps. Try not to dwell in it causing you to lose sight of your goal.

7. Take time for yourself

You may have a never ending list of things to accomplish and multiple roles to play in life but remember that self-care is of utmost important. If you do not take time to care for yourself, you may not be able to fulfill all that you set out to do. Eat right, take time to exercise and also, to simply relax and unwind. Don’t forget to enjoy your shopping. Meet up with friends and family; it is important to not let your duties and responsibilities overwhelm you that you lose sight of what is truly important.
